You gotta get your track mastered LOUD, right? Well, most expect their tracks to sound on par with commercial releases nowadays. If you're preparing your own master be sure to have a commericially produced reference track alongside your own in your mastering mixer. You will want to constantly A/B between your mix and the professional mix to see how close you are getting. For this, make sure each track is sent to separate software outputs - as that way you can keep your mastering FX separate from your reference track. If you don't have additional software outputs available, you could put your mastering FX temporarily in the track insert FX rather than the master output. If you find this all too much, you could always Order Online Mastering.

About Us


Platinum Audiolab was founded online in 2010 by West Coast based music producer Steven Nikolic. Our mission is to take an innovative approach to sample production, programming and studio expertise, and expand availability directly to a worldwide marketplace. Our philosophy is that any production environment - and every producer - large or small, should have a solid foundation in working material and knowledge, without having to hunt around and jump through hoops to get it. With increasing access to tools of modern technology, a huge shift is occuring in art, music and design. There are a lot of people doing a lot of creative stuff off of their laptops, out out in doorms, down in basements - everywhere, and we want to be a part of it. Since our opening on the internet in 2010, we've made available sample libraries and loops for nearly every software sampler, hardware sampler, sequencers and recently have added professional mastering and mixing services. We are also looking to expand into iOS and VST technology in the near future while continuing to support PC/MAC and hardware samplers going forward. We're expanding, and always offering new bread to be gobbled up by hungry artists, producers and webosophere plublishers out there. About Steven Nikolic and "Smash Quiet"
Steven Nikolic is a veteran music producer and mixing engineer who has been composing, mixing and mastering music for himself and others for the past 17 years. Having been in music production for the better half of his life, he has seen work in almost every genre of music production: electronic, dance, pop, rock, industrial, hip hop, ambient, classical and soundtrack. As founder of platinumaudiolab.com his focus has been in promoting digital based musick-making for everyone. "When I was 16 I got my first computer and was so excited to discover a world of possibilty open up for me in music production... At the time the Internet was still in its infancy and information and applications were scarce, but even back then I was like a man possessed, running around soaking up all of the tools and information I could.. I couldn't believe that we were seeing the beginnings of a music recording revolution and I was there at the start... I was quite aware of that, and it's amazing to see how far things have come." "I am endlessly interested in keeping up with what's new, adding to and improving my own skills and repertoire... and passing on and exchanging skills with newcomers... If you broaden the base, it just opens up more opportunities for everyone. The worst thing is becoming static and stale...
